Twin Cities, MN – A bone-chilling cold front is sweeping into Minnesota this weekend, plunging temperatures well below zero. Residents across the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota should prepare for subzero highs through Monday, along with a light chance of snow Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures Thursday through Saturday will hover between 5°F and 15°F during the day, with lows plunging to -5°F at night. Sunday could bring light snow showers to the region, further intensifying wind chill concerns. By Monday, highs may inch closer to 20°F but remain below average for January.
Officials urge residents to limit outdoor exposure and dress in layers to avoid frostbite. Check on vulnerable neighbors, ensure pets are indoors, and prepare vehicles for icy conditions. The weather service emphasizes monitoring road conditions, as light snow may lead to slippery travel Sunday.
With snow-covered lakes as a backdrop, Minnesotans are still making the most of winter, enjoying ice skating and other outdoor activities despite the bitter cold.
