Albuquerque, NM – A freezing fog advisory is creating hazardous driving conditions this morning across northeastern New Mexico, particularly along I-25 near Springer, Wagon Mound, and Las Vegas. Drivers face icy overpasses, limited visibility, and slick conditions during their morning commutes.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory will remain in effect until 10 a.m. Wednesday. Light ice accumulation is possible in the affected areas, especially near Clovis and Portales. Motorists are advised to reduce speeds, maintain safe distances, and use extreme caution. Fog and ice are most severe in low-lying areas and overpasses, where temperatures have dipped below freezing overnight.
Looking ahead, weather conditions are expected to improve later today, with Albuquerque reaching a sunny high of 53°F. The five-day forecast shows warmer temperatures through the weekend, with highs nearing 60°F on Friday and partly sunny skies. Nighttime lows will remain chilly, dipping into the mid-20s to low 30s.
Travelers should continue to monitor local updates for changing weather conditions and delays. If driving in the affected areas, allow extra travel time and stay alert for icy patches.
