Eureka, CA – Northern California is bracing for heavy rainfall today, with the National Weather Service issuing flood warnings for areas along Highway 101. Rainfall totals could reach up to 2 inches in some locations, creating hazardous driving conditions and potential road closures.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, the rain will persist throughout Thursday and into Friday morning. Winds are expected to gust up to 30 mph, particularly near coastal areas, adding to the travel challenges. Residents and travelers are urged to avoid water-covered roadways and secure outdoor belongings.
Thursday’s high will hover around 55 degrees, with rain peaking in the afternoon. Overnight, temperatures will drop to 50 degrees, with lighter but steady rain continuing. On Friday, showers will ease by late morning, but isolated thunderstorms could still affect some areas through early evening.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will bring much-needed relief, with mostly cloudy skies and highs near 54. By Sunday, a slight chance of rain will return, but conditions will remain milder compared to midweek.
