Boise, ID – Snow began falling early Wednesday morning across Treasure Valley, creating slick and hazardous road conditions for commuters. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns that up to two inches of snow could accumulate by midday, with rain expected to follow in the afternoon.

According to the NWS, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon today for Treasure Valley, including Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution as bridges and overpasses may freeze first, increasing the risk of accidents. Travelers can check road conditions by calling 511 for updates.

This afternoon, temperatures are expected to rise, transitioning snow into rain across the region. Higher elevations, such as the Boise Mountains and Camas Prairie, could see 3 to 6 inches of snow before the storm tapers off. Mountain drivers should prepare for more severe conditions and potential delays.

Looking ahead, Thursday will bring mostly cloudy skies with a high near 44°F, while rain is likely Thursday night. Friday will remain cloudy with additional rain chances and a high near 50°F. The first weekend of 2025 will feature mild conditions, with highs in the mid-40s and minimal precipitation expected.

Residents should clear snow from driveways and sidewalks this morning to prevent freezing as rain moves in later. Always monitor local forecasts for the latest updates and exercise caution while traveling through the area.
