Tampa, FL – Residents across Hillsborough County are under an air quality alert through midnight Wednesday due to elevated fine particulate levels. The Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County warns that sensitive groups, including the elderly and those with respiratory conditions, should limit outdoor activities to minimize exposure.

According to the National Weather Service, this air quality advisory coincides with otherwise mild and sunny weather in the Tampa Bay area. While skies are mostly clear, northerly winds will persist, keeping temperatures cooler than usual. Today’s high is expected to reach 71 degrees with light winds at 7 mph. Tonight, conditions will dip to a low of 49 degrees, with partly cloudy skies.

Looking ahead, the extended forecast suggests consistent sunshine into the weekend. Thursday will see mostly sunny skies and a high near 70, followed by a low around 50 at night. Temperatures will rise slightly Friday, peaking at 71 degrees, with lows in the mid-40s. Saturday brings another sunny day, but morning lows could plunge to 41 degrees before climbing to a high of 60. Sunday will warm slightly, reaching 65 degrees under clear skies.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local conditions and minimize outdoor activity during the air quality alert period, particularly in high-traffic areas near I-275 or US-41, where fine particulates may concentrate. For further updates, visit the Environmental Protection Commission’s website.
