San Angelo, TX – Warm temperatures will linger through the weekend in west central Texas before a strong cold front arrives Sunday night. The week kicks off with sunny skies and highs near 70 degrees, but significant changes are on the horizon.
According to the National Weather Service, above-average highs will dominate the next few days, with Thursday reaching 70 degrees and Friday slightly cooler at 64. By Sunday, however, a strong cold front will sweep through, dropping highs to the low 50s by Monday and lows near freezing. Residents should prepare for gusty winds accompanying the front, particularly Sunday night.
Thursday and Friday will remain clear, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities or travel along major roadways like US-87 and Loop 306. Winds will pick up slightly on Friday night, with gusts up to 15 mph. If you have weekend plans, Saturday will be partly sunny, with highs near 68.
By Sunday evening, the cold front will take hold. Temperatures will drop sharply into the 40s overnight, creating the potential for frost early next week. Residents are urged to protect outdoor plants, pets, and exposed pipes as conditions grow colder.
The workweek will begin with a high near 50 on Monday, marking a sharp contrast to the warm weather earlier in the week. Cooler and drier conditions are expected to persist into Tuesday.
Plan now for the shift in weather, and stay informed with local updates to ensure you’re ready for the dramatic temperature swings ahead.
