St. Louis, MO – A mix of rain and light snow is forecast for the St. Louis area Thursday afternoon, potentially impacting evening commutes along I-70 and surrounding roads. While snowfall accumulations will likely remain minimal, grassy areas and elevated surfaces may see some light dusting.

According to the National Weather Service, the chance for any snow accumulations ranges from 20% to 50%, with the highest likelihood in northern Missouri and west-central Illinois. Pavement temperatures will likely remain too warm for significant impacts, but drivers should exercise caution, especially during the evening when conditions may cool rapidly.

Looking further into the week, Thursday night could bring a rain-snow mix, transitioning into mostly cloudy skies with temperatures dropping to 29°F. Friday promises sunshine and a high near 32°F, offering a brief reprieve before another round of winter weather arrives Saturday night into Sunday. This weekend, a storm system could bring snow, freezing rain, and sleet to the region, making travel potentially hazardous.

Residents are advised to monitor updates closely, particularly for the weekend system. Early preparations, such as ensuring vehicles are winter-ready and travel plans are flexible, are highly recommended.
