Winter Weather Advisory for Michigan’s Whitefish Bay: Up to 6 Inches of Snow Expected

Gaylord, MI – A lake effect snowstorm is set to impact northern Michigan on Thursday, bringing up to six inches of snow to the region. Drivers along I-75 and near Whitefish Bay should prepare for hazardous road conditions and reduced visibility. The heaviest snowfall is expected through Thursday evening, with snow bands intensifying near the shoreline.

According to the National Weather Service in Gaylord, lake effect snow began early Wednesday morning and will continue through Thursday. Tonight’s temperatures will drop to 19°F, with strong northwest winds creating drifting snow. Roads may become icy and slippery, especially during peak travel hours. Motorists are encouraged to carry emergency supplies and allow extra time for travel.

Five-Day Forecast for Gaylord, MI

Thursday: Snow showers likely, high of 25°F. New snow accumulation of up to two inches expected.

Friday: Snow continues with gusty winds up to 25 mph. High of 22°F, low around 16°F.

Saturday: Light snow possible before noon. High near 18°F, clearing skies by evening.

Sunday: Partly cloudy and colder, with a high of 20°F.

Monday: Snow returns, high of 21°F with accumulating snowfall expected.
