Pocatello, ID – Eastern and southern Idaho residents should prepare for snowy conditions as a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect Wednesday morning. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, forecasts 1 to 10 inches of snow, depending on elevation, across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, the advisory spans from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday. Areas in the Snake River Plain, Magic Valley, and surrounding mountains will see varying accumulations, with heavier snowfall expected in higher elevations.

Travelers should anticipate slippery roads, poor visibility, and potential delays, especially on mountain passes. Officials urge caution when driving and recommend checking the latest road conditions via Idaho’s 511 hotline or website.

Residents should also take precautions at home, as icy sidewalks and driveways may increase the risk of falls. To stay safe, slow down while walking or driving and allow extra time for travel.
