Portland, OR – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Cascades of Oregon and Washington through 4 p.m. Wednesday. The National Weather Service forecasts significant snowfall, with accumulations between 6 and 10 inches expected in areas above 3,000 feet. Higher elevations may see over a foot of snow.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin this afternoon, intensifying overnight. Key affected areas include Willamette Pass, Santiam Pass, McKenzie Pass, and Government Camp. Travel could become hazardous as roads and bridges are likely to turn slick and snowpacked.
Residents and travelers are urged to carry winter emergency kits, including blankets, flashlights, and tire chains. Motorists should check road conditions before traveling by calling 511 or visiting TripCheck.com in Oregon or WSDOT.com in Washington.
The advisory highlights the potential for travel delays and icy conditions. Stay updated on weather developments and plan accordingly to avoid unnecessary risks.
