Grand Junction, CO – A powerful winter storm is set to hit western Colorado, beginning Wednesday afternoon and lasting into Thursday. Mountain regions, including the Elkhead and Park Mountains, are forecasted to receive the heaviest snowfall.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, Winter Storm Warnings have been issued for these areas. Additional Winter Weather Advisories cover the Flat Tops, Gore, and Elk Mountains, extending into central valleys. The storm is expected to drop significant snow from 2 p.m. Wednesday through 5 p.m. Thursday, with hazardous travel likely.
Northern Colorado mountain ranges could experience severe impacts, making travel difficult and potentially dangerous. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and monitor conditions closely.
The storm system is forecasted to bring heavy accumulation, with some areas seeing up to a foot of snow. Snow removal crews and emergency services are on standby to address potential challenges.
