Pittsburgh, PA – A Winter Weather Advisory will take effect at 1 a.m. Wednesday, bringing snow and gusty winds to the area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that parts of western Pennsylvania will receive up to six inches of snow. Areas within the Winter Storm Warning zone, including parts of West Virginia, could see totals reaching 10 inches. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will likely reduce visibility and create hazardous travel conditions.

The advisory is set to last until 4 a.m. Thursday. According to the NWS, residents should prepare for difficult driving conditions during the advisory period. Blowing snow may cause drifts and sudden whiteout conditions in some areas.

Officials recommend delaying unnecessary travel and keeping emergency kits in vehicles. For updates, visit the NWS website or local news outlets.

This marks the return of winter weather following Tuesday’s thunderstorms. Residents are urged to take precautions as conditions worsen overnight.
