Logansport, IN – A fatal three-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon shut down southbound SR 25 near County Road 300 South. The incident left one driver dead and blocked traffic for two hours.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred at 12:45 p.m. Doris Blume, 89, of Logansport, was driving a Dodge Caravan southbound on SR 25. She attempted to change lanes to turn into a gravel crossover but collided with a GMC Sierra crew cab pickup. The pickup, towing a gooseneck trailer with steel plates, was traveling southbound.

The impact pushed the Dodge Caravan into the path of an unloaded Sterling dump truck. The dump truck struck the van’s passenger side, causing the van to spin into a guardrail. The GMC pickup jackknifed, while the dump truck came to rest on the berm.

Emergency crews, including the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Logansport Police, and fire departments, responded to the crash. They transported Blume by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. She died from her injuries.

The other drivers, a 35-year-old man from Michigan and a 51-year-old man from Delphi, refused treatment at the scene. Investigators confirmed no alcohol involvement and said all vehicles were towed.

SR 25 reopened after two hours of crash reconstruction. The sheriff’s office urges anyone with information to call 574-753-7800.
