Kansas City, MO – Snowfall is expected to blanket parts of Missouri this evening, with accumulations of 2 to 4 inches forecast. The National Weather Service warns that the snow will affect roads and create hazardous conditions for the Friday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Kansas City, snow will begin between 5 p.m. and midnight, depending on location. Kansas City and surrounding areas can expect snowfall to start around 7 p.m. and taper off by 8 a.m. Friday. Areas further southeast may see snow continuing until 1 p.m.

Light snow will develop across the region before intensifying overnight. Temperatures will hover near freezing, increasing the likelihood of icy roads and slick driving conditions. The heaviest snowfall is expected after midnight, complicating travel into Friday morning.

Transportation officials urge drivers to slow down and allow extra travel time. Previously snow-covered and icy surfaces will remain slippery throughout the morning hours.

The snowfall will be light but steady, with accumulations potentially creating delays in areas such as Kansas City, St. Joseph, and Clinton. Commuters should prepare for slower traffic, particularly during the early hours.

This winter weather event marks one of the season’s more impactful storms in the region. Residents should monitor local forecasts for updates and exercise caution when traveling.
