Boise, ID – An Air Stagnation Advisory remains in effect for southwest and west-central Idaho until 11 a.m. Friday. Residents are advised to take precautions as poor air quality could pose health risks, particularly for those with respiratory issues.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), light winds and limited vertical mixing are trapping pollutants near the surface, leading to stagnant air. The advisory impacts portions of southwest and west-central Idaho, including Boise, Nampa, Caldwell, and surrounding areas. Experts recommend minimizing outdoor activities, especially for sensitive groups, and using air purifiers indoors.

Friday’s weather is expected to bring some relief with partly sunny skies and highs near 40°F. However, snow is likely late Friday night, with a 60% chance of precipitation. The snow could bring minor accumulation but will improve air quality conditions by stirring up stagnant air.

The weekend forecast includes mostly sunny skies Saturday with a high of 38°F and patchy fog returning Saturday night. Sunday will see a mix of sun and clouds, with temperatures reaching 36°F. Overnight lows throughout the weekend will drop into the 20s.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather changes and follow precautions to protect their health. Drivers should also be aware of reduced visibility in areas experiencing patchy fog.
