Cheyenne, WY – Travelers across southeast Wyoming should prepare for hazardous road conditions today as a winter weather advisory remains in effect until noon. Snowfall and strong winds are creating reduced visibility and icy roadways, particularly near I-80. Drivers should proceed with caution and anticipate delays.
According to the National Weather Service, gusts of up to 50 mph are contributing to widespread blowing snow. Accumulations of up to one inch are expected, primarily in higher elevations. Slick road conditions may persist through the afternoon as snow showers taper off. Authorities urge motorists to check local conditions before traveling and to avoid non-essential trips during the morning hours.
The hazardous weather will give way to clearer skies tonight, but wind chill values could drop as low as -5°F. Friday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of 34°F, though breezy conditions with gusts near 30 mph may return. Another round of light snow is possible Friday night, with temperatures falling to 25°F.
Looking ahead, Saturday may bring a 30% chance of snow showers, with a high of 33°F. Breezy conditions are expected throughout the weekend, followed by partly cloudy skies Saturday night. Sunday will offer a break from snow, with mostly sunny weather and highs near 29°F.
Travelers should monitor the latest updates through local weather services and dial 511 for current road conditions. Prepare for fluctuating visibility and bundle up against the biting cold.
