Fort Worth, TX – A winter storm warning is in effect through noon Friday, with freezing rain, sleet, and snow creating hazardous travel conditions across North Texas. Roadways, including I-35W and other major routes, are expected to be slick and potentially impassable due to icy precipitation and freezing temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation began Thursday morning and will intensify throughout the evening and overnight. Snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are forecast for many areas, with localized totals reaching up to 8 inches. Freezing rain and sleet are likely to create additional hazards, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Residents are urged to delay travel unless absolutely necessary. If you must drive, ensure your vehicle is equipped with emergency supplies, including a flashlight, water, and blankets. Power outages are possible where ice buildup is heaviest.

The storm will continue through Friday morning, with conditions gradually improving by midday. Temperatures will hover near freezing overnight, leading to slick roads into Friday’s commute. The five-day forecast shows mostly clear skies by Saturday, with highs in the mid-40s through the weekend.

Friday’s high is expected to reach 38°F, with light winds. By Saturday, sunny skies return, bringing a high of 44°F and calmer conditions. Sunday will remain sunny with highs near 47°F.
