Northern Indiana residents should brace for more snow this Friday as lake-effect snow showers continue. Temperatures are expected to remain bitterly cold throughout the week, with lows dipping to single digits overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, minor road impacts are possible tonight in northern Indiana and northwestern Ohio. Southern Michigan could also see slick conditions. Friday brings a higher chance of accumulation, with snowfall predicted between 1 to 3 inches.
Forecasters warn that light snow and icy roads tonight could make driving hazardous. Temperatures will stay in the low teens, creating icy conditions even on treated roads. By Friday, the snow will intensify as Arctic air reinforces the cold front, bringing potential accumulation across the region.
Highs for Friday are expected to reach only 15-22 degrees, with overnight lows plummeting to 9-16 degrees. Winds could make it feel even colder, with wind chills potentially dropping below zero. Residents should take extra precautions to stay warm and plan for potential travel delays due to snow-covered roads.
The cold weather will linger into the weekend, with high temperatures struggling to rise above the mid-20s. Snow showers may persist into Saturday, but accumulation is expected to taper off. Early next week, another surge of Arctic air could return, keeping conditions frigid.
