Melbourne, FL – Residents in Central Florida should prepare for frost and dangerous rip currents as cooler weather sweeps across the region. A Frost Advisory remains in effect for Lake and interior Volusia counties until Thursday morning, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 30s in some areas. Sensitive outdoor plants are at risk if left uncovered.
According to the National Weather Service, a Moderate Risk of rip currents continues along the coast, fueled by strong southward-flowing currents. Beachgoers are advised to avoid swimming unless lifeguards are present. Small craft operators should also exercise caution, as offshore winds of up to 20 knots could create waves as high as six feet.
Thursday’s high will only reach the upper 50s to around 60°F north of I-4, with gusty northwesterly winds keeping conditions cool. The wind chill will make it feel even colder, particularly in the morning hours. Partly cloudy skies will persist through the day, with slightly warmer temperatures southward.
The extended forecast shows warming into the weekend, with Friday’s high near 69°F under sunny skies. However, a 30% chance of showers is expected Saturday, followed by clearer and milder conditions on Sunday. Overnight lows will remain chilly, ranging from the low 40s to mid-50s through the weekend.
