Cloudy Skies Persist Through Christmas, Midweek Rain Expected

Kansas Weather Update: Split Temperatures Persist, Clouds Dominate the Week

Kansas experienced another day of varying temperatures, with highs reaching the 70s in northwest regions while central areas hovered in the 50s. Goodland and McCook set new record highs for the day, highlighting the state’s contrasting conditions.

Overnight, increasing cloud cover is expected to keep temperatures steady, with lows ranging from the 20s and 30s across much of the state. Southcentral Kansas may see a few spots dip into the 40s as southern winds shift to a northerly flow by morning.

Tuesday will bring temperatures in the low 50s, with persistent cloud cover and light winds. A weak boundary may trigger isolated showers in southern Kansas on Monday night, but rainfall will be sporadic and clear out by early Tuesday.

Southeastern Kansas could see a few spotty showers early on Christmas Eve morning, but conditions are expected to dry out by late morning, leaving lingering clouds. Christmas Day will mirror Christmas Eve, with temperatures remaining in the low 50s under thick cloud cover.

A new weather system is forecast to move into the state late Wednesday night, bringing widespread rain on Thursday as a low-pressure system tracks eastward. Showers will taper off by Thursday evening.

Temperatures are expected to stay above average for the rest of 2024, with highs reaching the upper 50s by Sunday and remaining mild through New Year’s Eve.
