Rain Clears, Giving Way to the Coldest Weather of the Season

Central Mississippi is experiencing light scattered showers this morning, but the rain is expected to taper off by late morning as it moves out of the area. A cold front is currently moving through the state, bringing with it a surge of colder air.

Temperatures are starting off in the 50s and will remain in the 50s throughout the morning and afternoon. As evening approaches, temperatures will drop quickly into the low 40s and upper 30s.

Overnight, the temperature will continue to fall, reaching the 20s, marking some of the coldest weather so far this season. Widespread frost and freezes are expected early in the morning as temperatures dip below freezing.

Looking ahead to the weekend, the first half will remain dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Morning temperatures will be cold, in the low 30s, warming up to the upper 50s during the day. Sunday will bring slightly warmer temperatures, with lows in the 40s and highs in the mid 60s, along with the next round of rain.

A gradual warming trend is anticipated as we head into next week, with temperatures rising above average by Monday.
