OAHU, Hawaii (TCN) — A soldier stationed in Hawaii has been arrested on several charges amid an investigation into his 19-year-old pregnant wife’s disappearance.
On Aug. 1, the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division learned Mischa Mabeline Kaalohilani Johnson was reported missing from her home at the Schofield Barracks on the military base in Oahu that is home to the 25th Infantry Division. She was reportedly last seen July 31. The Criminal Investigation Division announced they were offering a $10,000 reward for information regarding her disappearance and “credible information” leading to her recovery.
Johnson is six months pregnant.
Almost three weeks after her disappearance, on Aug. 19, the 25th Infantry Division announced Johnson’s husband, Pfc. Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, was placed into military pretrial confinement.
On Aug. 27, the U.S. Army Office of Special Trial Counsel said in a statement that Dewayne Johnson is being charged with providing false official statements, obstruction of justice, and production and distribution of child pornography. Michelle McCaskill, a spokesperson for the office, said officials are “confident that law enforcement will exhaust all efforts to find Mischa and the likelihood of additional charges is certainly a possibility as the case develops.”
