Kansas man is behind bars after going 122 mph in a 65 mph zone and leading police on a chase

There are various reasons why police officers may initiate a traffic stop. It could be part of a broader investigation or simply because the driver committed a road violation.

Unfortunately, some drivers attempt to evade these encounters by leading the police on a chase. A recent incident in Kansas serves as an example where an officer attempted to pull over a speeding driver.

Trying to evade a traffic stop is never a good idea

A Jackson County Sheriff on patrol duty noticed a car swerving in and out of the road lines, attracting attention due to its excessive speed of 122 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.

This reckless driving behavior prompted the officer to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver decided not to comply and instead led the police on a chase.

The incident occurred around 10 pm on December 27th, as reported by WIBW.

The police officer persisted in attempting to pull over the vehicle, but the driver cunningly switched off his lights to camouflage himself in the thick fog.

Undeterred, law enforcement continued their search, aided by the valuable information provided by the initial officer: the driver’s license plate number and the make of his vehicle.

Eventually, at approximately 12:30 am, they successfully located the individual.

After pulling over the vehicle, the police officers proceeded to arrest the driver, Matthew William Adams, aged 39.

They subsequently transported him to the Jackson County Jail, where he is now facing charges of fleeing and eluding law enforcement, reckless driving, and multiple traffic offenses.
