Car collides with moped in Brooklyn, resulting in 3 individuals being hospitalized

A crash occurred in Brooklyn on Tuesday morning, resulting in three individuals being hospitalized, including two who were riding together on a moped, as reported by the police.

A white Nissan Sentra turned left onto Pitkin Avenue and collided with a moped crossing Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, just before 7 a.m., according to officials. The moped was carrying two individuals at the time of the accident.

Both the moped riders and the driver of the Nissan were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. It is not currently known what their conditions are.

Debris, including two helmets and a shoe, littered the intersection alongside the wreckage of the moped and car while the police conducted their investigation.

According to Barbara, a nearby resident, she shared with 1010 WINS that she considers the intersection to be hazardous and consciously avoids it whenever possible.

“That intersection is notorious for accidents,” she remarked. “To avoid any mishaps, I prefer taking a longer route instead of making any left or right turns.”

Kyrie was deeply affected by the incident as he also rides a similar scooter.

“It’s unbelievable how the cars, the scooters, they just don’t stop,” he shared with 1010 WINS. “I personally ride a scooter, so it easily could have been me.”

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash will be determined by the NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad.
