Update on arrest of man involved in lengthy standoff provided by Independence police

The Independence Police Department in Missouri swiftly responded to a report of gunshots on Monday, which later escalated into a tense standoff situation.

A shooting in the 2500 block of S. Crescent Avenue was reported to dispatchers around 1 p.m. on Dec. 30.

Upon arrival, officers were met by a distressed individual reporting that their home had been targeted by gunfire. Thoroughly inspecting the premises, the officers uncovered compelling evidence that substantiated the caller’s allegations.

The reason for this incident and the motive behind the shots being fired remain unclear. The Independence police have reassured the public that there is no immediate threat and are currently conducting an ongoing investigation.
