Increases in respiratory illnesses observed in Texas

Doctors in Texas are warning of a surge in flu, RSV, and COVID cases, anticipating that the situation will deteriorate further.

Last week, Children’s Medical Center Plano witnessed a significant surge in flu cases, with a total of 279 reported cases. This number is almost double the previous count, highlighting the rapid spread of the flu virus.

Additionally, the hospital is also witnessing an increase in cases of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) and COVID-19, further emphasizing the need for heightened precautions and medical attention.

According to experts, there has been a hidden surge of COVID-19 cases during the holiday season. This surge went unnoticed due to its silent nature.

Researchers have detected elevated levels of the virus in wastewater samples from 21 states, providing crucial evidence of this unreported surge.

The CDC is urging families not to ignore mild symptoms and to take precautions during family gatherings and travel to prevent further spread of the virus.

They are particularly concerned about the upcoming months of January and February, which are expected to see a peak in cases.
