Convicted of the murder of beloved Tejano singing sensation Selena, the woman is now seeking parole. Inmates claim that there is a “bounty on her head” within the Texas prison system.
Yolanda Saldívar, aged 64, has spent the last thirty years behind bars for the shooting of the iconic 23-year-old Latina superstar.
However, there is a glimmer of hope for Saldívar as she is scheduled for a hearing in March to determine if she will finally be set free.
According to sources within the Texas prison system, Selena’s killer, Yolanda Saldívar, is facing a challenging and dangerous life behind bars.
Despite efforts by her legal team to secure her release, fellow inmates have revealed a disturbing reality. Saldívar has become a target of hostility, with a “bounty on her head.” This grim situation paints a bleak picture of her existence in prison.
Saldívar, who used to work as a nurse, was in charge of Selena’s fan club during the time of the tragic incident. The famous singer had intended to remove her from that position due to accusations of embezzling $60,000.
The fateful encounter took place at a Days Inn motel in Corpus Christi in March 1995. Following the altercation, Selena managed to make her way into the motel lobby, suffering from a gunshot wound, with Saldívar chasing after her. Before losing consciousness, Selena managed to identify Saldívar to the witnesses present.
During her trial, Saldívar claimed that the shooting was unintentional and that she had initially placed the gun against her own head in a moment of emotional turmoil. She then proceeded to wave it around, resulting in the accidental shooting of Selena.
Saldívar was convicted of first-degree murder by the jury, who did not find her defense believable. As a result, she was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole.
Saldívar has consistently maintained that it was an accident, according to the latest report.
According to the report, a family member of the convicted killer revealed that Saldívar sees herself as a “political prisoner” and believes that she has already “paid her debt to society.”
