United States – Robert O’Brien, former National Security Advisor under the Trump administration, recently discussed a scenario in which President-elect Donald Trump could potentially force Denmark to sell Greenland to the United States.
During an appearance on Sunday Morning Futures on Fox News, guest host Jason Chaffetz asked O’Brien about Trump’s previous comments on foreign policy, including suggestions about annexing Canada, retaking the Panama Canal, and buying Greenland — despite the fact that Greenland is not for sale.

O’Brien, drawing a comparison between Trump and former President Ronald Reagan, suggested that Trump is strategically looking ahead to future global conflicts. He emphasized Greenland’s strategic importance and proposed that Denmark could take on the financial responsibility of defending the island. However, O’Brien also suggested that if Denmark was unwilling to fund its defense, Greenland could eventually become part of Alaska.
He further stated, “We’d be happy for Denmark to fund the defense of Greenland, but if not, they can pay us to do it, and we’ll handle it.”
