DWI Arrest Leads to Administrative Leave for Albuquerque Police Officer


Albuquerque ,N.M. – An Albuquerque Police Department officer has been placed on administrative leave after being arrested for driving under the influence on Thursday night. Officer Truitt Bushnell, 40, was pulled over just before midnight by Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies for speeding at 80 mph in a 45 mph zone. Upon further investigation, Bushnell was arrested on suspicion of DWI.

Following the arrest, Bushnell was placed on administrative leave while the department conducts an internal investigation. Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina stated, “We will move forward with an internal investigation, while criminal charges are handled by the judicial system.”
