New Maxio – A Las Vegas woman, Renise “NeNe” Wolfe, was tragically shot four times in the head by her boyfriend, Markeem Benson, after he promised her mother he would “get her home safe.” Benson, 29, has been charged with open murder with a deadly weapon following the fatal shooting of the 33-year-old tattoo artist. Wolfe’s body was found with gunshot wounds to the back of her skull in an apartment in Las Vegas on Sunday. An autopsy confirmed that she had been shot at close range.
Wolfe’s mother, Tracy Coleman, spoke out after Benson appeared virtually before a judge at the North Las Vegas Justice Court on Christmas Eve. Coleman recounted how, the day before her daughter’s death, she had urged Benson to ensure NeNe’s safety when he walked her to the car after a family gathering. Benson reassured her, saying, “I’ll get her home safe. I’ll take care of her, I promise.”
Tracy later described the horrific experience of returning to her daughter’s apartment and having to clean the blood from the scene where NeNe was found. In an emotional statement, Tracy shared her shock at the tragic turn of events, recalling how she had been praying on her way home the day before her daughter’s death, grateful for her family’s well-being and anticipating a joyful Christmas.

Those who knew NeNe from her work as a tattoo artist were devastated by the loss. Chino Smith, NeNe’s former boss at Vegas Life Ink, expressed how the shop had lost its lively atmosphere without her. Nina Smith, a manager at the tattoo parlor, described NeNe as “the definition of a kind heart,” emphasizing her absence from the business world.
Friends and loved ones mourned NeNe on social media, remembering her as a sweet, talented person who brought joy to those around her. One tribute shared heartfelt memories of their close friendship, saying, “Every time we saw each other it was always love. She always showed my babies the sweetest love.”
Benson, who has prior convictions for home invasion and attempted robbery with a deadly weapon, also faces charges for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
