A cold front that passed through New Mexico last night has brought cooler temperatures today, but these chilly conditions won’t last long.
A high-pressure ridge is expected to settle over New Mexico tomorrow, lasting through Saturday. This ridge will help keep dry air in place and push temperatures upward as the weekend approaches.
Saturday and Sunday will be the warmest days of the week, thanks to down sloping winds. Locally breezy conditions will continue, especially near the mountains, where these winds will cause temperatures to rise by several degrees.

As early next week approaches, a low-pressure system will begin forming over the Pacific Coast. This system is expected to reach New Mexico around Christmas. However, there’s still some uncertainty about the storm’s strength and timing. The European model predicts a weaker storm, while the American model suggests a stronger one. The storm’s intensity will affect snowfall levels, but as of now, light snow is forecast for the Northern Mountains on Christmas Day. Keep in mind that the forecast is still subject to change as we get closer to the holiday.
