17-Year-Old New Mexico Marine Earns Top Honor and Rare Promotion

A 17-year-old New Mexico Marine has made an extraordinary achievement right out of boot camp, earning both a prestigious honor and a rare promotion. Johnny Acee, who has dreamed of joining the United States Marine Corps since elementary school, graduated at the top of his class, ranking #1 out of 584 recruits.

Acee’s exceptional performance earned him the Chesty Puller Recruit Company Honor Graduate Award, named after the legendary Marine who served with distinction during World War II, the Korean War, and in numerous battles like Guadalcanal, Peleliu, and the Battle of Sandino in Nicaragua.

Not only did Acee survive the rigorous challenges of Marine Corps basic training, but he also earned the Chesty Puller Award, a symbol of his dedication and skill. On top of that, he received a rare promotion to E3 lance corporal, a significant achievement for someone his age.

The Marines are always looking for exceptional individuals. If you’re interested in learning more or considering a career with the USMC, you can visit the recruiting website or contact the El Paso USMC recruiting office.
