A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico, with snow accumulations expected to reach up to 9 inches in some areas by early Tuesday morning.
The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service in Pueblo, will be in effect from 11 a.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for the Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Wet Mountains. Higher elevations in these regions are expected to receive 3 to 9 inches of snow, while lower elevations, including Walsenburg and Trinidad, could see 3 to 5 inches.
A similar advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Albuquerque for northern New Mexico, particularly for Raton Pass and Johnson and Bartlett Mesas. Snowfall totals near the Colorado border could reach up to 5 inches, especially above 7,500 feet.
Travelers are urged to prepare for hazardous driving conditions, including slick roads and reduced visibility, particularly along Interstate 25. Motorists should slow down and allow extra time for travel.
