Wegmans Announces 2025 Store Openings in Long Island, Connecticut, and Maryland

Wegmans, the popular East Coast grocer, has announced plans to open three new stores in 2025, expanding into two entirely new markets. The new locations, currently under construction, are set to open in Lake Grove, New York, Norwalk, Connecticut, and Rockville, Maryland, by the end of the year.

Each new store will feature Wegmans’ signature departments, including a wide variety of foodservice options such as sushi, pizza, chef-made salads, and sandwiches. The stores will also offer extensive selections in produce, seafood, meat, bakery, deli, and cheese. Additionally, all locations will have drive-through curbside lanes for online grocery and Meals-To-Go order pickups.

Here’s a closer look at each new store:

Lake Grove, New York

Scheduled to open on February 26, 2025, the Lake Grove store will be Wegmans’ first on Long Island. The 101,000-square-foot location will provide over 500 part- and full-time jobs, primarily filled by local workers. This store will feature a Market Café with fresh sushi, poke bowls, pizza, chef-created salads, sandwiches, hot self-serve bars, and a made-to-order sub shop. There will be 14 full-service registers, 14 self-checkout stations, and a separate cafe checkout area for takeout and dine-in customers. It will also offer 630 parking spaces.

Norwalk, Connecticut

Wegmans’ first store in Connecticut will open in Norwalk during the second quarter of 2025. The 92,000-square-foot store will include a two-story parking garage with 551 spaces, solar canopies on the second level, and 12 Tesla charging stations on the lower level. Inside, the store will feature 13 full-service registers, 15 self-checkout stations, and many of the same foodservice options as the Lake Grove store, including a Market Café with a variety of fresh meal options. A bridge will connect the store’s second mezzanine level to the rest of the food market.

Rockville, Maryland

The final store to open in 2025 will be in Rockville, Maryland, marking Wegmans’ ninth location in the state. This 80,000-square-foot store will be part of the new Twinbrook Quarter Community, offering 90 minutes of free parking in its two-level underground parking garage. Over 500 part- and full-time positions will be created at this location.

Wegmans, based in Rochester, New York, currently operates 110 stores across the U.S.
