Recent reports from the New Mexico Department of Justice highlight disturbing cases of abuse involving staff at various care facilities.
In Santa Fe, Salomon Sanchez, an employee at a Developmental Disabilities Waiver group home, is allegedly seen on video refusing to assist a resident. Officials state that after his refusal, Sanchez physically shoved the resident into a table and pinned them down.
In a separate incident in Santa Fe, Lee Carrizales, a caregiver at Pacifica Senior Living Facility, is accused of verbally assaulting two residents. One of the incidents was reportedly captured on video and shared on social media.
Linda Romero, a caregiver at another facility, is facing allegations of striking a resident with developmental disabilities multiple times.
Additionally, at Morningstar Assisted Living in Rio Rancho, Edwars Bonilla-Aguinada, a staff member, is accused of mistreating an 89-year-old Alzheimer’s patient, allegedly ignoring her discomfort and acting aggressively toward her.
All three employees are now facing charges for the abuse of vulnerable residents under their care.
