The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints across all counties in New Mexico throughout December, according to a recent announcement.
The NMSP aims to raise awareness about impaired driving and reduce fatalities caused by alcohol or drug-related crashes through these initiatives, along with ongoing media campaigns and intensive advertising.
These checkpoints are part of a larger effort to change public attitudes toward driving under the influence. The NMSP emphasized that hundreds of lives could be saved each year if all drivers made the responsible decision not to drive impaired.
