Cold Temperatures and Clear Skies to Continue Across New Mexico

Cold air will dominate Friday morning, bringing clear skies, light winds, and dry conditions that will allow temperatures to drop due to radiational cooling. Early morning temperatures across northern New Mexico are mostly below freezing, with lows in the upper single digits, teens, 20s, and 30s. The southern regions will see lows in the 40s.

Despite some cloud cover in the afternoon, dry conditions will persist, and afternoon highs will be slightly warmer than Thursday. However, southern areas will experience slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures, with readings ranging from the high 20s to low 60s in lower elevations across the state. Winds will be light, but the Northeast Highlands may see some breezy conditions as westerly winds pick up briefly.

As the weekend approaches, only occasional passing clouds are expected, with a gradual warming trend and calmer winds by Saturday. This trend will continue into the start of next week.
