A New York couple has been charged with child endangerment after their toddler was discovered in critical condition at the Summit County Red Roof Inn

Two people are facing significant charges after an incident at the Red Roof Inn in Summit County that left a one-year-old girl in critical condition. According to WKYC, Springfield Township police arrested the child’s father, Jason Santos, 37, and his girlfriend, Jamilee Hunt, 36. Both are from New York, and the charges against them include endangering minors and hindering government business, with Santos also accused of felonious assault.

Last Friday, about 9:30 p.m., cops responded to a 911 call reporting an unresponsive toddler at the motel at 2939 S. Arlington Rd. According to Cleveland19, when cops arrived, they found the young girl on a motel bed, lifeless and not breathing. After performing CPR, the young girl regained her pulse and respiration. Nonetheless, the police discovered symptoms of significant trauma, including considerable bruises, and transported the youngster to the hospital for immediate care.

In their following hearings before a judge in Akron Municipal Court, Santos and Hunt both pled not guilty. Each received a one-million-dollar cash bond. The Springfield Township Police Department is still investigating the crime, but details are scant. They have asked anyone with information to contact Detective John Simms at the provided number.

The severity of the child’s injuries led to the description of her condition as severe. This instance is especially concerning given the history of police calls related to this Red Roof Inn, which has over 1300 in the last four years, suggesting a continuing issue of criminal activities at this location, as reported by News 5 Cleveland. There has been no response from the community to the occurrence. Nonetheless, the gravity of the charges and the victim’s age raise serious concerns and call for a thorough investigation.
