New Mexico State Police arrested 37-year-old Jeremy Gonzales for allegedly stealing a U-Haul truck, which contained a stolen motorcycle. The arrest was made possible by the state’s Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) system, which flagged the stolen vehicle. On November 21, state police received an alert from the system indicating that the U-Haul, originally reported stolen in Tucson, Arizona, was in the area. At approximately 8:30 a.m., officers located the stolen U-Haul at a Dollar General store in Lordsburg, New Mexico. Inside, they found a stolen Honda motorcycle. Gonzales was taken into custody and booked into the Hidalgo County Detention Center on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
