JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Today, January 9, 2025, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims charged a 47-year-old man in connection with a home invasion and sexual assault that occurred on Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Jermaine Adams, 47, with no known address reported, was formally charged with first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; first-degree Home Invasion Burglary; second-degree Aggravated Assault; second-degree Aggravated Arson; third-degree Terroristic Threats; and third-degree Criminal Restraint.
Adams, who is being detained in the Hudson County Correctional Facility on an unrelated matter, was served with the charges at the facility.
New In-House DNA Laboratory Led To Expedited Results
Prosecutor Suarez commended the investigative work of the Hudson County Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department. The matter and evidence were expedited by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office’s new in-house DNA Laboratory, which produced results to assist in the investigation.
As previously reported, on Sunday, January 5, 2025, shortly before 7:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to a report of a home invasion at a McAdoo Avenue residence. Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman who had suffered injuries and reported that an unknown man broke into her home and physically and sexually assaulted her. The woman was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of multiple injuries.
