Police: Behavioral Health Employee Accused Of Assaulting Teen Who Spit In His Face

A teenager who spit in the face of a staff member at Foundations Behavioral Health in New Britain Borough has led to the staff member being charged with felony counts of strangulation and aggravated assault.

Rashawn James Harris, a 38-year-old resident of Philadelphia, is facing charges of misdemeanor assault and summary harassment, according to the police.

On Friday, Harris surrendered himself to the authorities.

An investigation was initiated by the police in response to a Childline complaint on September 3rd. According to authorities, Harris allegedly grabbed a 14-year-old juvenile patient by the neck and forcefully threw him to the floor. This incident occurred after an altercation where the juvenile spat in Harris’s face at the facility located at 833 E. Butler Ave.

Harris has been released on $50,000 unsecured bail, and his preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 14 at 1:15 p.m. The hearing will take place before Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.
