A US fighter jet has crashed into the Yellow Sea, which is near South Korea.
U.S. F-16 Jet fighter Crashed in South Korea
A U.S. F-16 fighter jet crashed in South Korea during a training flight, prompting the pilot to eject, as reported by Yonhap News Agency. The incident occurred close to the U.S. Air Force base in Gunsan. According to the people who saw the crash, the jet went down in the Yellow Sea after taking off from Gunsan, which is 178 kilometers south of Seoul.
There was an “in-flight emergency” with the 8th Fighter Wing jet before it crashed. The pilot is in good condition after being found by the Republic of Korea Maritime Forces.
Along with U.S. military officials, the South Korean Coast Guard and Navy helped with the rescue.

Colonel Matthew C Gaetke, the 8th Fighter Wing’s commander said, “We are grateful for the safe recovery of our airman by our ROK Allies and that the pilot is in good condition”.
Last May 6, 2023, a similar incident of a Jet crash happened in South Korea as well. F-16 of the U.S. 51st Fighter Wing crashed near Osan Air Base, with the pilot safely escaping and no civilian casualties reported.
The U.S. Air Force plans to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and take necessary measures to prevent future similar accidents.
