Republican Lawmakers Call for Ban on Chinese-Owned Tutor.com

According to the report of FOX NEWS, Republican lawmakers Rep. Elise Stefanik and Sen. Tom Cotton want to stop the US Military from using Tutor.com a Chinese-owned tutoring service. They worried about privacy and security because Tutor.com parent company Primavera might have to give sensitive information to the Chinese government. They also concerned because Tutor.com is connected to Byte Dance the company that owns TikTok.

Lawmakers Push Ban on Tutor.com Amid Concerns

Stefanik and Cotton new law called the Ban Chinese Communist Party Access to U.S. Military Students Act aims to keep Tutor.com from gathering and keeping personal data like where people are their IP addresses and what they studying. They worried this info could be used against American service members and their families. Another group Parents Defending Education agrees and wants more control over who has access to student data. But Tutor.com says its an American company and follows strict rules to protect user data denying claims that it shares info with China.
