CEFC’s Role in the Biden Impeachment Inquiry: Exploring the Chinese Energy Firm

CEFC became one of China’s major private energy enterprises with government affiliations. Hunter Biden extensively promoted CEFC in the U.S. energy industry and secured global transactions. After the arrest of a prominent U.S. official and the strange disappearance of its founder, Ye Jianming, in China in 2018, CEFC collapsed.

The mysterious billionaire Ye Jianming founded CEFC in 2002 and grew it into a global investment company. CEFC’s Czech growth affected President Milos Zeman’s pro-China stance. Zeman abandoned his anti-Communist stance to support China.

CEFC supported China’s Belt and Road Initiative energy and economic linkages with Europe. Ye Jianming was active in the Chinese Communist Party, and the CEFC benefited Beijing.

Global Deals, Monkey Island Investment, and the Ongoing Impeachment Inquiry

Hunter Biden helped CEFC secure U.S., Middle East, and European deals. CEFC asked Biden for worldwide expansion help. Hunter Biden’s involvement in CEFC’s Monkey Island natural gas facility investment was notable.

CEFC experienced issues in November 2017 when Patrick Ho, a key deputy, was detained in the U.S. for breaching the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. He was convicted of bribery for CEFC’s African energy projects. Ye Jianming disappeared in China after Ho’s arrest, purportedly under investigation for commercial crimes or corruption.

CEFC gave Hunter Biden millions. The House Oversight Committee is investigating Joe Biden’s family’s business operations, focusing on CEFC payments and Hunter Biden’s role. The CEFC scandal complicates the Biden family’s impeachment investigation by raising questions about their overseas business relationships.
