A massive $725 million Facebook settlement will be given to those who qualify for claims but it will take much longer to get your payout.

Meta, Facebook’s parent company has agreed to pay for the settlement class action lawsuit, that claims the social media network authorized users’ data to be shared with third parties, the most famous being Cambridge Analytica, a consulting firm that supported Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

The Hill  News reported that to identify if you can claim the Facebook settlement if your account was among the shared information. According to the Facebook settlement details that “If you were a Facebook user and reside in the United States between May 24, 2007, and December 22, 2022, inclusive, you may be qualified for a cash settlement.”

Here’s How To Submit Claims

To submit Facebook settlement claims you can do it online or by mail through August 25, 2023, and the process is fairly quick and simple. However, eligible recipients won’t obtain their payment right away.

The deadline for the Facebook settlement claims is still on the final settlement hearing, which is scheduled for September 7, 2023, at 1 p.m. Pacific Time. Although the exact date for payments will be issued is still unknown, the soonest they could be sent out is after the September court date.

Even if the judge approves at that hearing, however, there is still a possibility for appeals, the settlement page warns. If there were to be an appeal, it’s not clear exactly how long it would take to fix.
