A family pet dog attacks a 9-month-old baby and the child’s grandmother was critically injured in Waterloo, Iowa, authorities say.
Dog Attacks 9-Month-Old Baby, Injures Grandmother
According to Waterloo police Capt. Jason Feaker that on Thursday morning when the family dog a neutered boxer/hound mix breed attacked the baby at the child’s home while the 49-year-old grandmother was babysitting her grandchild when it happened.
The Waterloo Patrol officers together with the other emergency responders rushed to the house when they received a call to the home for a report of an animal attack where the baby was declared dead during the incident.
However, the grandmother survived the attack while she tried to intervene, she had been bitten so badly. She was rushed to a local hospital where her injuries are considered serious. Hence she was referred to a bigger University of Iowa Hospital, police said. The grandmother and the child’s name was kept private.

The Reason Of The Dog Attacks Was Not Yet Identified
The investigation of the dog attack incident is still ongoing and there are no details released for the reason for the attack.
Waterloo police Capt. Jason Feaker claimed that the dog was picked up by animal control and was ordered to be put down via euthanized.
The dog remains have been sent to Iowa State University for further testing purposes, reported by KWWL News.
In Minnesota, for less than a month two serious dog attacks have occurred. on April 7, a pet dog pit bull was shot and killed after attacking a child in Brooklyn Park, about a week later in Brooklyn Center, four dogs attacked the 22-year-old man who was mauled to death while he was watching for a family member.
