A 2020 Second-Degree Murder Case in which a man was accused of shooting a young man several times in Seattle’s Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone.

2020 Second-Degree Murder Case

Thursday, the Seattle  Times reported, that Marcel Long 22 years old pleaded guilty to his second-degree murder case in connection with the death of Horace Anderson 19-year-old.

On June 20, 2020, Anderson was killed in an eight-block area of the city where people were protesting the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis by a police officer.

It was stated on the charging documents that several people called 911 to report the shooting incident. However, police were caught with a mob and left after someone yelled that the person shot had been taken to Harborview Medical Center where Anderson died over 30 minutes after 911 was called.

Anderson’s Father Filed A Lawsuit Against His Son’s Murder

Police claimed that a lawsuit was filed by the victim’s father Horace Anderson and fire department medics refused to respond to the shooting scene as Anderson was dying. Worth $500,000 was paid by the city for the 2020 Second-Degree Murder lawsuit.

AP News reported that Long was arrested more than a year for shooting Anderson several times in Seattle’s temporary Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone last 2022.

Ever since 2019, Anderson and Long had been in a fight where Anderson lost and was posted on YouTube, according to the court documents.

Furthermore, the Surveillance video shows the incident of that night when both are fighting in the protest zone and shows the two young men exchanging words which leads Long to pull out his handgun. In the video, it can be seen that  Anderson was already walking away while Long who had been restrained momentarily by others, suddenly targeted his gun towards Anderson and started shooting him several times.

June 30 Long is set to be sentenced.
