Austin, TX – South-Central Texas will ring in the New Year with cooler temperatures and sunny skies, offering residents a crisp and mild start to 2025. The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecast breezy conditions for Wednesday, with highs near 67 degrees and north-northeasterly winds reaching 10 to 20 mph.

According to the NWS, overnight lows are expected to dip to 41 degrees Tuesday night, making for chilly mornings throughout the week. A gradual warming trend will bring highs back into the low 70s by Saturday, though increased cloud cover is expected starting Thursday.

Residents should also remain alert for critical fire weather conditions across eastern parts of the region on Tuesday. Low humidity, gusty winds, and dry vegetation could increase the risk of fast-spreading wildfires between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The NWS advises against outdoor burning during this time and recommends securing outdoor items that could be affected by strong winds.

Looking ahead, the extended forecast promises mostly sunny skies through Friday, with mild temperatures and calm conditions. Cooler nighttime lows will remain in the mid-40s, providing relief from recent seasonal highs.

Drivers along major roadways, including I-35 and U.S. Route 290, should exercise caution during Tuesday’s breezy hours, especially in open areas prone to wind impact.

Be sure to monitor updates from the NWS for any changes to the forecast or fire weather alerts.
