Spartanburg, SC – Strong winds are expected to sweep through the Upstate tonight, prompting a Wind Advisory for Spartanburg and surrounding areas.
The advisory begins at 10 p.m. Tuesday and remains in effect until late Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Gusts could reach up to 45 mph, especially near mountain and foothill roads like I-85 and Highway 176, creating potentially hazardous driving conditions. Patchy fog earlier in the evening may further reduce visibility for travelers.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, as high winds could topple unsecured items like patio furniture or holiday decorations. Power outages may also occur if strong gusts damage utility lines.
Looking ahead, Wednesday will bring calmer northwest winds during the day with sunny skies and a high near 53°F. Overnight temperatures will dip to 29°F, with clear skies into Thursday.
Drivers should exercise caution and remain alert for sudden gusts or fallen debris on roadways. Updates on local conditions can be found through the NWS or local emergency services.
