November’s Full Beaver Moon Shines Globally in Mesmerizing Photos

The Full Beaver Moon in November lit up the night sky on Monday (Nov. 27), giving photographers and moon lovers all over the world a spectacular show. This was the second-to-last full moon of 2023. Its brightness caught people’s attention, making for interesting photos and showing off its many sides in different parts of the world.

The Full Beaver Moon is named after the way beavers hide their young in their dens for the winter. It also has roots in a time when trappers tracked beavers for their valuable winter pellets. People from all over the world came together to take pictures of the celestial show. Each place had a different view of the moon’s beauty.

When a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched 23 Starlink spacecraft from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, the Full Beaver Moon got in the way, photographer Ken Kremer captured an interesting moment.

A photographer named Robbie Sydney took a beautiful picture of the Full Beaver Moon in Sydney, Australia, making it look like it was on top of the famous Sydney Opera House. In San Francisco, photojournalist Tayfun Coskun took a picture of the moon throwing a beautiful orange glow over the empty Alcatraz jail.

In New York City, the moon looked different. It was a silver disk with hazy edges that poked through the clouds. In the sky above 42nd Street, photographer Gary Hershorn got the Full Beaver Moon against the bright city lights.

Photographer Lorenzo Di Cola saw a beautiful “moon illusion” in Italy when he saw how the full moon looked incredibly big against the background of Monte Prena Mountain.

Even though it was hard because of the clouds in November, moon lovers in the UK and Glasgow, Scotland, were able to catch peeks of the Beaver Moon. The pictures they took were so beautiful that they were called “ethereal.”

Some fans, like X user Matt Lantz, didn’t just take still pictures. They also made timelapse movies that showed the Full Beaver Moon rising over Fort Worth, Texas.

As the moon continues to amaze, people are getting more and more excited for December’s Cold Moon, which will be the last full moon of 2023 and will appear on Dec. 26.
